Global Poker is a completely browser based poker platform. It requires absolutely no app download, and is 100% free to play. The catch is that this online social poker site does not operate with real money. The main components of this system are gold coins and sweeps coins, which we’ll explain below.

Gold Coins

Gold coins are the free to play coins at Global Poker and other social poker games. They are used to participate in play for fun tournaments and to play casino games. Gold coins can only yield gold coins as a prize, and they can never be exchanged for real money. There are multiple ways of acquiring gold coins on the platform, the easiest being daily bonuses. Alternatively, you can purchase gold coins with credit and debit cards.

Sweeps Coins

Sweeps coins are for players who want to get prizes. Unlike gold coins, they can’t be directly purchased and may often be offered for free when purchasing gold coins or in certain promotions and tournaments. Unlike gold coins, you won’t receive free SCs with daily bonuses.

How to Acquire Sweeps Coins

As stated above Sweeps Coins cannot be bought. There are several methods to acquire Sweeps Coins, such as participating in daily social contests hosted by Global Poker, sending mail requests, or by acquiring Gold Coins, which often come with complimentary Sweeps Coins.

? Global Poker Registration and Login

Registering a new player account at Global Poker is easy. All you need to do is head to their webpage and hit the register button. This will open a popup where you can register with your email address and password, Google, or Facebook. If you choose to register through a Google account or Facebook, you don’t even need to create a password.

The next page will ask a couple of rudimentary questions like your age, and the user name you want. After you’ve finished giving out your basic information, you can just press “create new account”, and you’ll be set to play. If you used Facebook or Google login, you’ll already have some of the info on this page filled out for you.

Logging In

Your Global Poker login works like on any other website. Just insert your username (or email) and password to log in. If you used Google or Facebook for creating your account, you need to use that method for log in too. Make sure you are signed in to the application before you try this option.

Global Poker features 4 different poker variations: Texas Hold’Em, Omaha, Omaha High/Low, and Crazy Pineapple. As far as we know, they are the only poker site in the US offering Crazy Pineapple and one of the very few offering Omaha Hi-Lo, so if you don’t like a particular version of poker, you can always try another one.

Texas Hold’ Em

Texas Hold’em is the classic game that Global Poker and both online poker and poker everywhere has been built on. If you are new to poker, we suggest you read Poker Tips to get a better understanding of the game. However, for experienced players, Global Poker is the place to play Texas.

Most tournaments and games on the website are naturally hold’em games, and you can find thousands of players online at any given time. Wait times for tables are usually very fast, and we’ve never waited for more than 15 seconds to be seated. The advantage of these games is that you don’t often find yourself in high roller tables where you need to wait for minutes to find other players.

Omaha

Omaha is the second most popular poker game in the world after Texas Hold’em. Global Poker offers a lot of Omaha tables and you can be sure to get seated in a matter of seconds any time you want to play Omaha.

For those unfamiliar with the game, it’s a variation of Texas Hold’em, but instead of two hole cards, you are dealt four. You then use these cards to form the best 5 card hand by using a maximum of two cards from your hand.

Omaha High/Low

Omaha Hi-Lo, also known as Omaha 8-or-Better, is a variation of Omaha poker. The primary difference lies in the pot being split into two. The best high hand wins half of the pot and the other half goes to the best low, if it’s possible. To qualify for a low hand, players must use two of their hole cards and three community cards to form a hand with five unpaired cards ranked 8 or lower. If no low hand qualifies, the best high hand wins the entire pot.

This dual-pot element introduces unique strategic considerations, as players simultaneously aim for the strongest and weakest possible hands using exactly two of their hole cards and three from the board, just like in regular Omaha.

Crazy Pineapple

“Crazy Pineapple” is an unique poker variant played with a 52-card deck, similar to Texas Hold’em but with three hole cards dealt to each player. The game starts with forced blinds and proceeds through several rounds: Pre-Flop, Flop, Turn, River, and Showdown.

In the Pre-Flop, players bet after receiving their three hole cards. The flop introduces three community cards, after which players discard one hole card. The turn and river involve additional community cards and rounds. The showdown determines the winner with the best 5-card hand.

? Game Types

Online poker sites often consist of three main game types, and Global Poker is no exception. In the Global Poker lobby you’ll find ring games, Sit’n’Go, and multitable Tournaments.

Ring Games

Ring games are the easiest to explain: these poker tables are constantly open and available as long as there’s enough players to start a game. The common practice is that the game starts when there’s two players. Other players can sit in until the table is full. Usually, online poker tables have between 6 to 9 seats per table.

On ring game tables, you can play with any amount you want (within the limits of that table), and walk away any time you want. For example, if you play with 25 SCs and lose a few hands bringing you down to SC22, you can decide to walk away with the 22 SC.

Sit’n’Go

Sit’n’Go games are like mini tournaments. This means that you play a tournament of 2 – 20 people. The tournament starts when it’s full the prize pool is divided according to how many players participate in the tournament. Global poker takes a small portion of each tournament called the rake.

Jackpot Sit’n’Go

Jackpot Sit’n’Go is an exciting variation. It is played as a three person sit’n’go game, where winner takes all. Once all three players have been seated, the Global Poker software determines a random prize pool between 2x and 200x the initial buy-in. The lowest you can play is SC0.5, meaning you can win up to SC100 with just a SC0.5 buy-in.

Tournaments

Tournaments are the bread and butter of Global Poker. In tournaments, you compete against hundreds or even thousands of other players for a massive win. A predetermined percentage of players will receive prizes from the tournament. The prize distribution depends on the number of players that participate and the tournament type. We’ll talk more about the different types of tournaments next.

? Different Tournaments at Global Poker

Global Poker runs non-stop poker tournaments every day, but there are some key differences between the tournament types. Furthermore, there are some weekly events that new players should be aware of, since you can bag some nice prizes when you participate.

Sunday Scrimmage

The Sunday Scrimmage is Global Poker’s biggest No Limit Hold’em tournament. It has a guaranteed prize pool of SC75,000 every week. The buy-in for this tournament is SC218, but you can also win tickets to play through multiple satellite tournaments during the week.

Golden Scrimmage (Seasonal)

Golden Scrimmage is the only Global Poker tournament where gold coins yield actual physical prizes. However, note that these prizes have no monetary value. You can win gold coins, Global Poker merchandise, and naturally, more gold coins. Since this is a gold coins tournament, it’s completely free to enter.

Bonanza

Each Sunday, Global Poker hosts a SC 5,000 Guaranteed tournament for those who have played 500 flops over the week. The entry fee is a minimal SC 0.11, and players can qualify by playing at either Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins tables, or even a mix of both. This means that you can play for free to gain entries to a prize tournament if you don’t want to risk your SC during the week.

Daily Bonanza

For those who might find 500 flops a week challenging, Global Poker offers an inclusive option. If you play 50 flops on any single day, you’re eligible for that day’s SC 500 tournament, with the same affordable SC 0.11 buy-in. Just like the weekly Bonanza, this tournament is open to both GC and SC players.

Bounty Tournaments

In bounty tournaments, the prize pool is divided into two parts. Standard prize pool according to the number of players and bounty prize pool. Players will get coins for every opponent they knock out of the tournament. The best part of bounty tournaments is the chance for players to collect additional bonuses during the event. This is distinct from regular Multi-Table Tournaments (MTTs) and Sit’n’Go’s, where you only get a payout if you finish high enough.

? Global Poker Casino

Global Poker also has other games available including multiple slots and table games. Even though it’s not the biggest highlight of the social casino, we found there to be a nice variety of social casino games to play between poker tournaments.

Global Poker Casino Bonus

The Global Poker Casino bonus mirrors the poker bonus. Regardless of whether you play casino games or poker, you will receive 150,000 GCs and 30 free SCs when you make your first purchase of $10. However, you need to keep in mind that you can’t get the bonus twice. When you choose a bonus the amount is added to your account. You can then use it to play casino games or poker or both.

Purchase Methods

Global Poker offers four main purchase methods: Trustly, Credit and Debit Cards, Online Banking, and Skrill:

• Trustly: Trustly is more commonly used for poker sites across the pond in Europe. However, it’s the easiest way to deposit and redeem prizes if your bank supports Trustly payments and transactions.
• Credit / Debit Cards: Global Poker supports American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards.
• Online Banking: Most banks don’t consider Global Poker a gambling site, so you shouldn’t have issues with them.
