We surveyed sports fans across Ohio on their dating habits when it comes to having romantic relationships with rival fans. More than one in eight (14.2%) of respondents said they would never date someone who supported a team that they hated.
Pickiest Ohio Cities When It Comes to Dating Fans of A Rival Team
Cincinnatians are revealed to be the pickiest daters when it comes to fans of rival sports teams, while residents of Toledo and Youngstown are revealed to be the most open-minded.
One in five (19.9%) of Cincinnati respondents said that they would never date someone who supports a team that they hate, while nearly as many (18.6%) admit that they would break up with someone for the same reason.
Clevelanders were ranked as the second pickiest, with 16 percent of respondents saying that they would never date a fan of a rival team, while approximately one in ten of Columbus, Akron and Dayton respondents agreed.
Ohio Cities That Prioritize Sports Over Politics When Dating
The numbers were even more drastic when it came to prioritizing sports fandom over their partners’ political and religious beliefs.
More than one in four (28.6%) of Cincinnatians said that they find it more important that their partner is a fan of the same sports than that they share the same political views.
Nearly one in five of Cleveland (19.2%), Youngstown (18.2%) and Columbus (18%) residents agreed while the percentages were slightly lower in Toledo (17.2%), Dayton (15.7%) and Akron (13.6%).
Ohio Cities That Prioritize Sports Over Religion When Dating
When it came to choosing between sports and shared religious beliefs, more than one in five (22.8%) of Clevelanders said that they would want their partner to be a fan of the same sport rather than sharing the same religious beliefs. Cincinnati respondents came close behind with 22.4 percent of respondents agreeing with the statement.

Ohio Sports Fans Most Likely To Ditch Their Partner on Valentine’s Day to Watch Sports
Those dating sports fans this Valentine’s Day should check the schedule before making plans as nearly one in five of Ohioans say that they would rather spend the most romantic day of the year watching sports.
One in five (20.5%) of Cincinnati respondents said that they would choose sports over romance on 14 February, while almost the same amount of Cleveland (18.3%), Youngstown (18.1%) and Dayton (18.1%) residents agreed.
Columbus respondents are revealed to be the most loyal to their partners with approximately one in eight (14.2%) saying they would choose sports over their partner on Valentine’s Day.
